Paramore Cup triumph

Sheffield United’s bid to retain the Paramore Cup began when skipper Dave Rodgers lost the toss and Norton Oakes elected to bat first on their home ground. This was a decision they were soon made to regret as the Norton Oakes top order was destroyed by the pace of Reece Shutt who took 3 wickets in his opening spell.

Then followed a fight back by Dan Boden (63) and Josh Keer (40) who put on 83 for the 5th wicket with Boden looking set for a big score. However when Boden fell to a superb catch on the boundary by Luke Shutt, United regained the upper hand. Norton Oakes were then quickly dismissed as man of the match Reece Shutt returned to take 2 further wickets to finish with 5-28. He was ably supported in the pace attack by Oliver Law, Joe Marshall, Luke Shutt and Paul Revill and by the spin of Tom Knight.

United’s response with the bat was dominant as the opening pair of Dave Rodgers and Paul Revill got to work, playing shots all around the ground. They put on 134 for the 1st wicket and when Rodgers was eventually out for 58 the game was won with Revill remaining unbeaten on 65.

Sheffield United won the Paramore Cup for the second year in succession.
