2009 Competition      

 

The 2009 competition promises to be bigger and better than last year with the addition of four more teams to this year's tournament.  Hallam, Houghton Main, Tickhill and Wath join last year's participants in 2009 with 8 sides battling to join Doncaster, Elsecar, Rotherham, and Treeton in the quarter finals. 

Eight games have been played and four sides remain, Houghton Main, Sheffield United, Wath and Whitley Hall have won through from the qualifying rounds and will battle it out for the South Yorkshire Twenty 20 trophy for 2009.  The draw was made following the last quarter final and can be seen here.

 2008 Competition

Last summer, saw the inaugural SouthYorkshire Twenty20 tournament take place at Bawtry Road.  Featuring some of the biggest clubs in the county, this was a festival of cricket showcased by the newest form of the professional game.  Coloured clothing, white balls and black sightscreens might not be for everyone, but it was certainly an action packed, thrill-a-ball competition that no cricket fan in South Yorkshire should miss out on in 2009.

The five Yorkshire League clubs in the region were invited to take part, along with the top three sides from last season's South Yorkshire League's Premier division.  The quarter finals are taking place on Thursdays 26 June, 3, 10 and 17 July at 6pm with the reserve days on the following Monday.  The quarter final draw is as follows - click on the fixture to see the result:

June 26th Whitley Hall v Rotherham Town July 10th Doncaster Town v Sheffield United
July 3rd Barnsley v Treeton July 17th Sheffield Collegiate v Elsecar

The winners from these 4 matches went forward to finals day on Sunday July 27th, where the two semi finals and the final were played, the first semi final starting at 10am.  The draw for finals day was made straight after the last quarter final and was as follows.

10am Semi final 1   Doncaster Town v Treeton
1pm Semi final 2   Sheffield Collegiate v Rotherham Town
5pm GRAND FINAL
