This summer, sees the inaugural SouthYorkshire Twenty20 tournament taking place at Bawtry Road. Featuring some of the biggest clubs in the county, this will be a festival of cricket showcased by the newest form of the professional game. Coloured clothing, white balls and black sightscreens might not be for everyone, but this will certainly be an action packed, thrill-a-ball competition that no cricket fan in South Yorkshire should miss out on.
The five Yorkshire League clubs in the region have been invited to take part, along with the top three sides from last season's South Yorkshire League's Premier division. The quarter finals are taking place on Thursdays 26 June, 3, 10 and 17 July at 6pm with the reserve days on the following Monday. The winners from these 4 matches will go forward to finals day on Sunday July 27th, where the two semi finals and the final will be played, the first semi final starting at 10am. The website will be updated with any issues weather-wise
The finals day itself, in association with Sheffield Hallam University and First South Yorkshire, promises to be a superb day out for all the family. A BBQ will be running all day, with bars and other catering also available, raffles, tombola, bouncy castle and competitions running throughout the event. There will also be some demonstration games of Kwik cricket involving junior members of some of the clubs involved. Entrance is free, charged car parking will be available.
