Code of Practice


Club members’ associates and players shall:


  • Through their appearance and conduct set an example both on and off the field which reflects positively on Sheffield United Cricket Club.

  • At all times support the committee, captains and colleagues so as to achieve the clubs objectives.

  • Respect the fabric and buildings of the club so as to ensure that the club’s appearance is maintained.

  • Contribute to the running of the club by supporting the committee / club fundraising initiatives including the 20/20 matches and Cricket Force days.

  • Pay their membership and match fees in accordance with the club rules.

  • All players should pay their club membership by the agreed date. Any player failing to do so will have the club privileges taken away from them. This includes non selection for matches and withdrawal of practices facilities. These will be reinstated on payment of membership.

  • No players will be allowed to be transferred to another club until their membership / any outstanding match fees are paid in full.

  • Players will commit themselves to regular weekly practice at the club and work with the club coaches so as to improve all aspects of their performance. Thursday night practice is compulsory for all members of the first and second team squads.

  • Players will commit themselves to play in all matches selected, with the aim of playing in 90% of fixtures.

  • Be available for selection for any team. Refusal to play in the team selected for may result in further action being taken, including non-selection for any team for that weekend and future games.

  • All players should contact their relevant team captain regarding availability, transport arrangements etc

  • At all times play within the laws and spirit of the game and accept the umpire’s decision without dissent.

  • Recognise and acknowledge the performance of their opponents.

  • Treat others as you would wish to be treated.

  • Do not tolerate foul language offensive behaviour or bullying of any kind.

  • All members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity.

  • Encourage team spirit and camaraderie.

  • Respect all officials, players, opposition and spectators

  • Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance

  • All associates, members and players should not undermine or criticize officials, coaches, umpires and team captains.

  • All members should inform the secretary of any items which need clarification or bringing to the attention of the committee.

  • All club members will be accountable to the committee who will take the necessary action against those players that fail to meet the spirit of this code of conduct.
